Yassmin Mohamed Fashir

Associate

Yassmin's role at CANY is Associate. Her responsibilities include organizational capacity building, development, and supporting the organization’s efforts to advance racial equity. Prior to working at CANY, Yassmin worked for ProAct Indy’s “Project ReAct,” to divert justice-involved youth away from probation and towards community service. Yassmin earned a BA in International Affairs and Near Eastern Studies with minors in French, Arabic, and Communications and Public Advocacy from Indiana University. After completing classes with students at the Indiana Women’s Prison through the Inside-Out Program, Yassmin focused her research on new understandings of justice and the colonial influence on human rights concepts. She completed an MA in Human Rights from Columbia University.
