The Correctional Association of New York testified before the Joint Legislative Hearings on the 2011-12 Proposed Budget for Public Protection. A member of the Correctional Association’s Prison Visiting Project shared observations and concerns about the Governor’s 2011-12 Proposed Budget for public protection, with a particular focus on the impact it will have on the incarcerated population in Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) prisons. His testimony focuses on three issues: prison downsizing, additional proposals to further reduce the prison population and the need to preserve essential prison-based programs.
